News! Veterans Gateway

The Veterans Gateway is a ground breaking, collaborative partnership not only for the military charity sector, but for the charity sector as a whole.

In November 2016 the Ministry of Defence announced £2 million of funding from the Covenant Fund for a one-stop service to better support British Armed Forces veterans in need. The service responds to calls from veterans charities and groups for help in navigating the wide range of services and organisations set up to support those who have served in the Forces.

The service will be the first point of contact fo veterans and their families to access information, advice and support on a range of issues including healthcare, housing, and employment. It will allow information and services from partners to be accessed from one place and all enquiries will be followed up to ensure that veterans receive the right support.

The Veterans Gateway will provide website, online chat, phone line and text message services available to any veteran, from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. Veterans can access face-to-face support through the Veterans Gateway network of partners and organisations across the UK and overseas.

News! Count Them In

The TBRL are running a campaign called "Coutn Them In" to ask that questions concerning membership of the Armed Forces Community are added to the next census. A number of politicians, academics, military charities and individuals have pledged support.

Since the launch, 10 councils have passed or will pass, motions supporting the campaign. 3 former Chiefs of the Defence Staff have pledged to support; 120 MPs have formally backed our campaign, 12 military charities and organisations have pledged support, 3 academic institutions have given their backing and over 800 letters have been sent to MPs by members of the public. Hundreds more have have sent campaign postcards to elected representatives.

A number of MP's have joined special campaign events in Parliament, which are being replicated in the Welsh Assembly on the 21st June.

However, there is currently no formal committment to include new questions on the Armed forces community in the next census.

Please help us secure a committment by building support within your local communities. Only through demonstrating the breadth of support we can convince politicians and statisticians of the need to make the next census count for our Armed Forces community.
